Healthy food for a healthy body

Besides sufficient exercise healthy food is beneficial for our physical wellbeing.

Some foods have the availability to strengthen our immunity. Being hit by a cold you cannot stop the disease process and all you can do is that you can ease the symptoms. This is why prevention is the best medicine.

Exercise - fresh air - healthy food. These three factors can help you to stay healthy this winter.

Many foods contain essential antioxidants, which counter free radicals in your organism. These free radicals can cause cell damage and a high concentration of free radicals can increase the risk of cancer. You can find important antioxidants such as Vitamin C or Vitamin E or carotenoids in fruits, vegetables, eggs or tea.

Important for a strong health is a balanced meal. Your body requires carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements from your daily nutrition. Every human has different needs and absorbs nutrients differently but there are some "ruled of the thumb" that can help you on your way to a healthy diet.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are a must for every menu. But fruits and vegetables may absorb the toxic chemicals found in fertilizers. Make sure you wash your fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption. Even better if you tend to buy organic fruits and vegetables, which are far less toxic compared to conventionally grown goods.

Proteins are essential to our healthy nutrition. The body cannot produce all proteins itself so we need to add them via out daily nutrition. Proteins have diverse functions in the human body. They produce antibodies, that fight off infections, they are important for the development of muscles and strengthen nails and hair. If you are vegan, make sure to consume enough vegetable protein. Adequate sources are legumes, nuts, grains, seeds, fruits and vegetables.

Carbohydrates are the sources of energy in a healthy nutrition. You can find "good" whole carbs in whole grain products, rice, millet or in fruits and vegetables. These foods are rich in fibre, which also support digestion. It is important that you only consume as much carbohydrates as your body needs on an average. That means that 50% of the consumed foods should consist of good carbohydrates of which 30g should be fibre. "Bad" carbohydrates may transform to less desired fat stores. Make the consumption depending on  your body's daily energy demand, which means depending on your exercise.

Exercise is indispensable for our physical wellbeing. Habitual physical activity and endurance sports measurably increase the activity of the immune cells. Sufficient exercise can help prevent cardiovascular diseases and/or diabetes. Make sure not to overload the body, which can weaken the body.

Water is the main component of blood. Blood transports nutrients and oxygen within our organisms and this is why water belongs to a healthy diet, too.
